Hm ok so it was a lot a lot smaller than I expected. there was a sushi place from new buffalo, Bubbles, Albanos, Sahara, that Italian place on Karwick I can't pronounce or spell, India house, Cabos, La Azteca, a BBQ place, miller pizza by the beach, Kellys table, and a place I'd never heard of, black eyed p. that's all I can remember. There was a alcohol section but I didn't go in there so I don't know what was there. You buy tickets and different food cost tickets. I am a sucker for Sahara's baklava, sooooooooo amazing! And India house has a chicken tomato saucy dish thing that is just so good I had to get two. There was a band, liked that. But it was sooooo hot! All in all, I was a bit disappointed that there wasn't more there. It would be so much better if there were more vendors. I was ready to leave after an hour, maybe less.
The pic is of the chicken thing I like at India house.

Who else I excited for the taste of Michigan City? I know I am! All day on Saturday!

Matey's Restaurant on Urbanspoon

I ate here a month or so ago, wanting to wait until it was warm enough to sit outside. We sat outside downstairs. We weren't sure what to do when we walked in, as there was no one there to seat us. We just kind of wandered in until a girl who worker there saw us and said to seat ourselves. There was one group sitting outside when we got there. The girl who was our waitress seemed nervous, like she was new to waitressing. Your drinks there come in disposable plastic cups, and we almost had to track down our waitress to refill them. There was a lot on the menu that looked good. I ordered a shrimp basket and my friend ordered a chicken sandwich. The food was hot, esp the waffle fries, they were pretty much amazing. I was in a deep fried heaven. The shrimp was good, not tasteless like a lot of places. But it wasn't to die for either. Sad to say, Long John Silver's has my favorite shrimp-it has the most flavor! Anyway, did I mention the waffle fries? Oh yeah. ;P As far as speed, service wasn't bad, we didn't wait forever, but it wasn't quick.

For the atmosphere, I could close my eyes and think I was on vacation. It was the chatter, the music, and then my plastic cup and all the seafood available, I liked that. But it doesn't seem like a very family oriented place. I don't think my 7 year old nephew would love it there, and I like to go where my family likes to go. The prices were a little higher than I liked.

Bottom line: The best way to explain it is that if someone wanted to go here, I wouldn't object, but I wouldn't suggest going here if my friends and I were looking for a place to eat.

3/5 stars.

Would I go back? Yes

Lighthouse Restaurant‎ on Urbanspoon
Review of Lighthouse Cafe.

So my friend and I went here looking for a place for lunch after we walked in to Maxine's and saw everybody dressed up. The food was okay, it is a diner and they serve diner food. One of the pictures of my friends hamburger. The other picture is of my sandwich which was a hot dog and cheese and bacon. Fries were not amazing but good. The service was fairly quick but they weren't very busy. This is the kind of place you go with your family on a cold winter morning for breakfast. It's not like it's a fun dinner stop but I would go back. Just know that it is a diner and you will get a diner experience. Prices were a little higher than normal diner food. Food was served hot.

Yikes, it's been awhile since I last posted, since then I've tried the Lighthouse Cafe and Matey's, reviews to come. No one really looks at the blog anyway, but I figure if eventually someone does, it'll be nice to have all this here

Yeah, I know this is a food blog, but I just couldn't not put it out there, NBC's Awake was cancelled today, such a wrong decision! If there's anyway NBC can rethink this....That show deserves to stay on the air. Look it up people, great show. My fave show, and this coming from a trekkie....

I am seriously craving some lentils from India House-must go back!

India House on Urbanspoon
On Tuesday I ate lunch at the India House. It's next to the old Wal Mart which is now Big R. One thing I will say- all the food was hot. Temperature hot. That's something that you don't always find at buffets. But I will also say that there wasn't a lot of selection. At least not the nearly 10 dollars with tax worth. Anyway, all the food I had was hot and good. I loved the lentils, I enjoyed the, oh what were they called, they were milk ball things, yummy. Rice pudding with nuts, and that chicken in the tomato basil sauce!!! They delivered fried bread to our table, that was good! Similar to pita bread in a way. I would try it for dinner, which is not a buffet.

Pros: Hot food
Tasty food

Cons:
Price
Not a lot of selection

Would I go back? Yes

(For lunch buffet) 3/5 stars

I ate lunch today at Panini Panini:  http://www.panini-panini.com/

Not a thorough review, but just some thoughts.

Went around noon, very busy! I was interested to find out that they reserve tables for larger groups, very useful fact. I ordered a pasta dish with beef and cheese and peas. It came very hot, (they serve at your table, but you order at the counter) it was good, not overly flavorful. The beef was more like shaved beef. It came with cantaloupe, bread, and a small salad. I also had an iced tea that had a very unique flavor, more like hot tea on ice and not generic iced tea. It had a little herb-ish taste to it. I tasted a friend's squash soup, it had a little bite of ginger, very different (but good) flavor. It's a quaint place, not a lot of room. They obviously do a business at lunch. There is a lot of pastries that are available for you, I wanted to try the cherry cheesecake, but didn't. It is a bit expensive for soups pastas and sandwiches, but it's a very unique place for Michigan City. It makes up for it. I also discovered they serve beer and wine. So it could be a fun dinner spot as well.

It was on my mind, I decided that I had to mention-
The best thing I've ever had to eat was at the Come Back Inn in Jeffersonville, IN. (Just across the state line, ate there while visiting family in Louisville).

It was a pasta dish, the: Gorgonzola:  Chicken, pistachio nuts, & mushrooms in a rich gorgonzola cream sauce.

Obviously, this is a matter of personal preference, but wow! SO GOOD. I like creamy, and to say this was creamy would be an understatement. It was very, very rich and creamy but wow. Amazing!
